Women in the Czech Republic
The history, characteristic, evolution, and genealogies of present-day women in the Czech Republic can be traced back from many centuries before the establishment of the country now known as the Czech Republic. They have originated from ancestral Slavic settlers who had an economy that was based primarily on agriculture. Many Czech women have full-time jobs and at the same time also focus on their responsibilities as homemakers, giving themselves "a high sense of personal efficacy and independence" within Czech society.The maternal mortality rate in Czech Republic is 5 deaths/100,000 live births. The HIV/AIDS rate is 0.05% of adults - estimates of 2013. The total fertility rate is 1.43 children born/woman, one of the lowest in the world. As in many other European countries, family formation has become more liberal, unmarried cohabitation has increased and the connection between fertility and marriage has decreased in the past decades; as of 2017, 49% of births were to unmarried women.Education
Czech Republic has a very high literacy rate, which is the same for women and men at 99%. However more men than women have completed high-school.
