Tommy Phelps


Thomas Allen Phelps is an American former professional baseball pitcher who is currently the pitching coach for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the New York Yankees organization.

Career

Playing Career

He began his Major League Baseball career in with the Florida Marlins, where he spent two seasons, pitching in 46 games and won four games, losing five and winning a World Series championship in 2003 World Series. In, he pitched in 29 games with the Milwaukee Brewers, recording no wins and two losses. In, he signed a minor league deal with the New York Yankees, and started 17 games for their Triple-A affiliate, Columbus Clippers, finishing the season with a 7–4 record with a 4.45 ERA.

Coaching Career

Phelps has been a minor league coach for the Yankees since when he was hired as their minor league rehabilitation pitching coach.. He enters the 2019 season in his fourth year as the pitching coach for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
