Tomás Armstrong
Thomas Armstrong was an Irish businessman, financier and politician, who served as a member of the board of the National Bank of the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata, and as interim director of the Ferrocarril Central Argentino.Biography
He was born in Garrycastle, Ireland, the son of Thomas Armstrong and Elizabeth Preaulx, belonging to an Anglo-Irish family. He arrived at the Port of Buenos Aires for the first time in 1817, definitively residing in Argentina years later, where he was married to Justa Pastora Villanueva, a Creole born in Buenos Aires, daughter of Pedro Esteban Villanueva, born in La Rioja and María Dionisia López Camelo.
Thomas Armstrong died on 9 June 1875, the news of his death was published by the newspaper The Southern Cross.
