Singapore Police Force Band
The Singapore Police Force Band is the chief police band in the Republic of Singapore. It was established in 1925 while the country was under British rule. It is the oldest of the marching bands located in Singapore. It currently consists of 110 musicians who all serve as SPF officers. Since all SPF Band members are regular police officers, they have a dual role when performing their policing duties at the local Neighbourhood police centre.
The SPF Band currently sports the following ensembles:
- Marching Band
- Fanfare Trumpeters
- Big Band
- Combo Band
- Brass Quintet
- Woodwind Ensemble
- Fusion Ensemble
The band plays a role in providing musical support during many ceremonial activities such as the Singapore National Day Parade. It conducts military-style exhibition drill at international events such as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo and the World Police Band Concert. It has performed on occasion with units such as the Gurkha Contingent Pipes and Drums Platoon and the Hong Kong Police Band.
