Ryan Jackson (baseball, born 1988)


Ryan Christopher Jackson is an American baseball infielder for the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He played college baseball at the University of Miami and previously played in Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Amateur career

Jackson played amateur baseball for Westminster Academy, Gulliver Preparatory, Florida Christian School, and the University of Miami. In 2007, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Professional career

St. Louis Cardinals

Jackson was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft.
He was called up to the majors for the first time on August 10, 2012 and he made his debut the next day, as the starting second baseman against the Philadelphia Phillies. He was hitless in three at-bats. His first MLB hit was a single to right field off Dallas Keuchel of the Houston Astros in a pinch-hit appearance on August 23. He had two hits in 17 at-bats that year and was hitless in seven at-bats the next season. He spent most of both seasons in AAA with the Memphis Redbirds.

Houston Astros

Jackson was claimed off waivers by the Astros on November 20, 2013.

San Diego Padres

A month later, on December 18, 2013, he was traded to the San Diego Padres in exchange for Jesús Guzmán. He played in only 11 games in 2013, split between the Arizona League Padres and the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas as a result of wrist surgery.

Los Angeles Dodgers

He was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers on November 3, 2014 and then designated for assignment by the Dodgers on November 24. On November 26, the Dodgers traded him to the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations.

Los Angeles Angels

Jackson was traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for Drew Butera on May 7, 2015.

Philadelphia Phillies

Jackson signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies in November 2015.

Second Stint with Angels

He was acquired by the Angels once again on May 20, 2016. However, Jackson was released by the Angels on August 10.

Miami Marlins

On January 3, 2017, Jackson was
signed by the Marlins to a minor league deal. He was released on April 24, 2017.

Seattle Mariners

On June 1, 2017, Jackson signed a minor league deal with the Seattle Mariners.

Washington Nationals

On July 3, 2017, Jackson signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals. He became a free agent at the end of the season.

Sugar Land Skeeters

Jackson signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball for the 2018 season. He re-signed with the Skeeters on May 12, 2019. Jackson was released on July 25, 2019.

New Britain Bees

On July 30, 2019, Jackson signed with the New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Long Island Ducks

On November 6, 2019, Jackson was selected by the Long Island Ducks in the New Britain Bees dispersal draft.
