Ryan Chiaverini


Ryan Chiaverini is a Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award winning television personality and the co-host of Windy City Live on ABC Chicago alongside Val Warner. The show initially replaced the 9am "Oprah" time slot in Chicago on WLS-TV. The working title was originally "Morning Rush." Chiaverini is credited with naming the show Windy City LIVE.

Personal life

Ryan graduated with a broadcast journalism degree in 2000 from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He was a "walk on" defensive back before earning a full athletic scholarship in 1998. Ryan attended Corona High School and was senior class president and prom king. Ryan is also a musician by hobby. In August, 2014 he released "Chicago" on iTunes and YouTube. It's a song he wrote and recorded with cameos by several prominent Chicagoans including Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie Banks. The proceeds from iTunes benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He has also performed with friend and Grammy winner Richard Marx at a media charity event known as "Newsapalooza." In 2012, Modern Luxury magazine named Ryan among Chicago's Most eligible bachelors and New City named him "Best Looking Male TV Personality."

Career

Ryan began his career at KFBB in Great Falls, Montana. As the weekend sports anchor. He wrote, produced, and shot primarily high school sports and local college athletics. Less than a year later, he accepted a similar position at KTVQ in Billings, MT. In 2002, At age 24, he landed a sports reporter gig at KUSA in Denver, Colorado. He spent four seasons covering the Denver Broncos and served as a fill-in host for the Mike Shanahan Show and John Elway's Crush Zone. In 2006, Ryan accepted a sports reporter job at WLS-TV and spent five years covering the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Chicago BlackHawks, Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. In 2010, Chiaverini was promoted to weekend Sports Anchor at WLS-TV. Ryan also hosted The "Chicago Huddle" for the 3 seasons, a weekly Bears show. Prior to winning season 9 of American Idol, Chicagoan Lee DeWyze was the show's in house entertainment at the ESPN Zone in downtown Chicago.

2 Minute Warning

In addition to winning a Chicago/Midwest Emmy for "Program Host/Moderator" on WCL, his 2 Minute Warning segment has also been nominated Emmy. "The 2 minute Warning" is a series of rapid-fire, ridiculous questions intended to trigger funny responses from well known personalities, athletes, and celebrities. Larry King, Mike Tyson, Guiliana Rancic, Joe and Nick Jonas, Jimmy Kimmel, Diane Sawyer, The Wayans Bros., and Susan Lucci are among the names who have been featured.
