The rufous-crowned elaenia is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae.
It is found in Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.
