Rajinder Gupta
Rajinder Gupta is an Indian businessman. Gupta is Chairman of TridentGroup, a business conglomerate headquartered in Ludhiana, Punjab, and Chairman of the Corporate Advisory Board of Trident Limited. TridentGroup primarily deals in Home Textiles, Paper Manufacturing, Chemicals and Power. They are one of the largest yarn spinners in India, one of the world's largest terry towel manufacturers and the world's largest wheat straw based paper manufacturer.
In 2007, Gupta received the Padma Shri Award from the then President of India in recognition of distinguished service in the field of Trade and Industry.
Gupta was Vice Chairman, Punjab State Economic Policy and Planning Board till 2017. Recently he has been appointed as Chairman, Board of Governors, at the one of leading institute of North India Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
He is also a representative of Trade, Industry & Commerce on the Board of Governors of Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion and is Chairman of Advisory Council of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Himachal Pradesh of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry. He is the President of Punjab Cricket Association since September 2017.
Business career
In 1985, Gupta entered the business of chemicals and fertilizers with an investment of INR 6.5 crore. In 1990, when the business diversified into yarn, paper and terry towels. With an annual compounded growth of 35 per cent in sales over the last 10 years, the TridentGroup has also adopted quite a few modern and eco-friendly practices under the leadership of Gupta. He has led the Group to successfully execute projects worth INR 36000 million over last 5 years.Gupta is also the Vice Chairman of CII Punjab State Council for 2006–07, Director of Punjab Technical University and Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training.
Besides being member of several trade and management bodies, he is also actively associated with several philanthropic ventures.
