Mudinepalli was formerly known as Mudi Naagula Palli. The village derives its name from the Sanskrit words 'mudi' which means 'old', 'nāgá' which means 'snake', and 'palli' which means 'village'. The name also relates to Nāgá Devatha, a Hindu Goddess.
