Marty Davis

Marty Davis is a former network radio and television news anchor with a master's degree in journalism from the American University, Washington, D.C..
Davis was married to U.S. Representative Robert W. Davis, a Republican from Michigan, from 1976 to 1989. Congressman Davis represented Michigan's 11th District after his 1978 election until his retirement in 1993.
In 1984, Davis sent a photo of herself in a black exercise leotard to Dossier, a Washington, DC society magazine. She wrote an accompanying letter saying, "Yes, there are congressional wives who aren't cloying Barbie Dolls swathed in Ultrasuede." The photo was reprinted in newspapers and magazines worldwide and featured on TV news programs including ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings. It gained her the attention of a Hollywood agent, and she was briefly considered as a woman's talk show host.
Davis has appeared on NBC's Today Show, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN and other media outlets. She also served as a correspondent for Gary Collins' syndicated talk show Hour Magazine. She initially tried to avoid the media in the wake of the photograph's appearance, but explained to the press, "I decided I'd be a fool if I didn't take advantage of all this publicity. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I thought the publicity would peter out, but it hasn't. If this is, indeed, a springboard for something else, then I should at least go for it and see what happens."
Davis has appeared on such talk radio programs as Westwood One's syndicated and WOR 710 New York City.
