and was first
isolated
from
actinomycete
bacteria
. Macbecin possesses
potent
antitumor
properties
.
Structure
Macbecin has an
unusual
macrocyclic
lactam
structure
. There are two
variants
Macbecin I and
II
which correspond to the
oxidized
1,4-benzoquinone
and
reduced
hydroquinone
respectively.
