Luxembourg Commercial Internet eXchange (LU-CIX)


The Luxembourg Commercial Internet eXchange is a carrier and neutral internet exchange point located in Luxembourg.

History

LU-CIX was founded in February 2009 under the initiative on cross-industry players.
These members keep running the technical backend requested for LU-CIX to provide its services portfolio.

LU-CIX gathers together national and international telecommunications operators, data centre operators, ISPs and online businesses.
LU-CIX is a member of Euro-IX.

Mission

LU-CIX has been created to support the development of the Internet industry in the heart of Europe and increase the attractiveness of Luxembourg as an ICT Hub in the middle of the so-called "Golden Ring".
Its philosophy is based on a strong neutrality concept.
To carry out these missions, LU-CIX:
- owns and runs the technical IX infrastructure and
- organises the Luxembourg Internet Days, a yearly event that brings together local & international ICT professionals for conferences, open round tables, trade fair and networking sessions focused on two to three topics to be addressed from a more technical and pragmatic way.
In 2019, the Luxembourg Internet Days took place in Luxembourg city, on November 12 & 13 with more than 1.100 visitors.
The 2020 edition of the Luxembourg Internet Days will be held on November 17 & 18 and will focus on Network Security & Cloud Security / Crisis Management and Resilience.
LU-CIX also manages the digital platform , which located in Luxembourg.

Infrastructure

LU-CIX is hosted in 8 data centers, PoPs, across the country to facilitate the membership of a majority of Internet related players.
The traffic peak of LU-CIX is 264,5 Gbps.
It also leverages strong partnerships with other IX in Europe.
