Knoppers (sweet brand)
Knoppers is a brand of wafer sandwich filled with nougat and milk creme, produced by August Storck KG. Since 1983, Knoppers has been available in Germany and bordering European countries, as well as Vietnam, Russia and more recently, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States. One Knoppers wafer consists of five layers: A wafer, hazelnut creme, another wafer, milk creme, and another chocolate-covered wafer.
The ingredients are: sugar, vegetable oil, wheat flour 12%, skimmed milk powder 11,5 %, hazelnuts 9%, whole wheat flour 6%, cocoa, clarified butter 2,6 %, whey powder, wheat starch, emulsifier: Soya lecithin, cream powder 0,3 %, Salt, Aroma, Caramel. Soda ash is used as leavening.
According to the ingredient list, Knoppers may also contain almonds, peanuts as well as other nuts and eggs.
The overall percentage of milk contained in the filled sandwich is 10%.
