Kitty Green


Kitty Green[] is the director of the 2019 film The Assistant, as well as an editor and a screenwriter. She was born in 1984, in Melbourne, Australia.

Early life

Kitty Green attended the Victorian College of the Arts, where she studied film and television. Green is a cinematographer, as well as a director and editor. Her film Ukraine Is Not A Brothel focuses on the Ukrainian feminist movement "Femen", which won an AACTA award for Best Australian Feature Documentary. She also won an award for her short film The Face of Ukraine: Casting Oksana Baiul for Best Non-Fiction Short Film at the Sundance Film Festival.

Career

Green found her passion in filmmaking after hearing about the Weinstein scandal; she took this as an opportunity to begin her journey in filmmaking and directing following research on the topic of sexism in the workplace. She wanted to expose the truth of such a repetitive, upsetting event that still occurs to this day in the modern world through her film The Assistant.
Green directed the following documentaries:
Green also directed The Assistant, a film about an assistant in the film industry who is faced with a moral dilemma in relation to the #MeToo movement.
