Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 1983
Italy was represented by Riccardo Fogli, with the song '"Per Lucia", at the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 23 April in Munich. The song was chosen internally by Italian broadcaster RAI, and marked Italy's return to the contest after a two-year absence.At Eurovision
On the night of the final Fogli performed 5th in the running order, following Sweden and preceding Turkey. The song was an uptempo Mediterranean-flavoured offering with an accordion featuring prominently in the arrangement, and received an enthusiastic response from the audience but a lesser one from the national juries. At the close of voting "Per Lucia" had picked up 41 points, placing Italy 11th of the 20 entries. The Italian jury awarded its 12 points to contest winners Luxembourg.Points awarded to Italy
