Florence RedWolves


The Florence RedWolves are an amateur baseball team that plays in Florence, South Carolina. The Florence RedWolves are part of the Coastal Plain League, the collegiate summer baseball league located in the American Southeast.

History

The then Raleigh RedWolves won the first Petitt Cup title in 1997. Before the 1998 season the RedWolves relocated to Florence, SC. In 2001 a local Florence attorney, Kevin M. Barth, and his wife purchased the team. The Florence RedWolves made the playoffs every year from 2001 through 2006. The RedWolves were first half champions in 2003 and went on to play the Outer Banks Daredevils in a game for the Championship, where they were defeated. The Florence RedWolves were also named Coastal Plain League 2004 "Organization of the Year." Florence won both the first and second half West Division titles in 2014 to claim the top seed in the West in the playoffs before losing in the Petitt Cup 2 games to 1. Since their championship in 1997 the RedWolves have been to four more Petitt Cup Championship games losing all four.
The Florence RedWolves have some of the state's top players on its roster from many highly ranked colleges, such as Clemson, Duke, University of North Carolina, University of South Carolina, and Florida. Over 30 of the RedWolves former players now play on a professional level.

Location

The RedWolves play their home games at Sparrow Stadium on the campus of Francis Marion University.
