After the defeat in World War II, Germany was invited to various events, for the first time the Olympic Games in Helsinki 1952 and for the next three editions competed with one team, while already Bern 1954, even before the construction of the Berlin Wall at the European Championships competed two separate teams, and this continued even from the Games in Mexico City 1968, until 1990.Medal count
