Derby–Shelton station
The Derby–Shelton station is a commuter rail stop on the Waterbury Branch of the Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line, serving the communities of Derby and Shelton, Connecticut. It is the southernmost stop of the Waterbury Branch before trains merge onto the Northeast Corridor. Through service to takes an about 22 minutes, though one peak-hour train makes an intermediate stop in. The station is located northeast of exit 15 on Connecticut Route 8, and is accessible via a frontage road from the interchange and Connecticut Route 34.
The station is from Grand Central Terminal, with travel time about one hour and 55 minutes depending on transfer time at Bridgeport. Travel time to New Haven is an about an hour, also depending on transfer time. The distance between Derby-Shelton and either of the next stops heading inbound is the longest between any two stations on the Metro-North system, to Stratford or to Bridgeport.
Derby–Shelton is owned and operated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation, but Metro-North is responsible for maintaining platform lighting, trash, and snow removal. The 75-space parking lot is managed by the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments.Station layout
